This “blog,” which started off as a research project in Dr. Courtney-Savali Andrews’ Afro-Classical Music Forum at Oberlin, is a catalog of music by African Diasporic composers, arrangers, and musicians for the classical guitar. Damian L. Goggans’ research builds upon the preestablished work of the following sources: Dr. Ciyadh Wells & Neil Beckman’s directory of Guitar Music by Black Composers, Changing the Canon by Ex-Aequo, AfroClassical by Aiuta Igleke.

The initial bibliography of classical guitar music by Black composers and arrangers, compiled by Goggans at Oberlin Conservatory, was published in the Music Library Association’s Quarterly Journal (Volume 81. No. 2) in December of 2024. Kathleen A. Abromiet edited this work.
